I attended Aiweiwei’s exhibition that he created specially for the Martin Gropius-Bau in Berlin. The project required me to analyze the setup of the exhibition and the exhibited works and to put together a minor thesis. I designed the book based on the theme behind his exhibition – freedom of speech and expression. The form mimicked the infamous Red Book and poses a conceptual contrast between the force exerted on the freedom of the Chinese people and Ai’s attempts to give them a voice.
